What do we want from the KS3 Curriculum?


Around two and a half years ago, Head teacher Tom Sherringtonposted thistweet. It left a lasting impression on me, and I suspect many others:

If there was no OfSTED, no league tables, no SLT… just you and your class..what would you choose to do to make it GREAT? Do that anyway…

At a time where so much of my professional decisionsseemed to be at the diktatof a higher authority, this tweet was a rousing call to arms and a timely reminder that professional judgement ought to trumpexternal pressures. It suggested valuing personaljudgement valued over exam percentages, valuingreal teaching over the misuse and inconstancies of Ofsted teacher guidelines, perhaps even valuing principles over Principals.
