What did you do wrong today?

As it happens, I have been doing more child protection work than almost anything else recently. Consequently, an interesting piece of data research (well, I thought it was interesting) has been sitting on my hard drive for a month, waiting to be written up. I was prompted to re-open it by an argument about Pupil Premium during the week and then, this morning, Tom Sherrington (@headguruteacher) RT’d his piece, The Data Delusion, from two years ago. A few minutes later, by a coincidence of Hardyesque proportion, John Tomsett tweeted:

What did you do wrong today?.
