How to save time by doing less

I work relatively long days but I don’t work evenings or weekends. At all. I’ve achieved this largely by knowing which corners to cut. To phrase that more positively: I recognise the few things that will make the most difference and focus relentlessly on those things. The problem is that there are so many distractions: so many tasks which take time but make no discernible difference. I’ll just give you one example.

I remember feeling very proud of my first War Wall. It was a beautiful grid of every single student in Year 11, placed carefully depending on their progress as determined by our predictions. It took me ruddy ages. I spoke to my team about this War Wall. We planned interventions and sent letters home based on that War Wall.
