I’ve just had a CPD session. To help to clarify my thinking, I am going to write about it:
1. I’ve been thinking about the use of Multiple Choice Questions over the past few months. I think they’re very helpful in assessing what the students can and can’t do. If the questions are well constructed and thought out, then I think they can be helpful identifying and correcting misconceptions. The first thing I am going to take from the CPD session is that I am going to try to include a MCQ in most of my lessons. At the moment, too often I throw out a question, wait for hands up, and then pick someone who’s hand isn’t up. This is not effective and demotivating for those students who have their hands up.
