Far from being a waste of time, educating for character makes an essential contribution to individual and societal freedom.

The blog below is based on the notes I used for the Policy Exchange debate on character education that took place on 5th November. The notes themselves weren’t very readable so I’ve turned them into a narrative, which is below. This differs from what I actually said on the day for all sorts of reasons (not least the need for brevity in speech), but the gist of both is the same.
