EXTRACTS FROM DECEMBER 2013 OFSTED RELATING TO HEAD AND TO GOVERNANCE

The Ofsted inspection on 11th and 12th December 2013:

  • did not recommend an external review of governance, as would be expected if governance was inadequate
  • did not suggest that the governing body needed to be replaced by an IEB

The final December 2013 Ofsted report confirmed that:

“The new headteacher knows what needs to be done to improve the school and has secured the support of all, including governors.”

Its specific section on governance of the school states that:

“In the past the governing body was slow to respond to the poor achievement of pupils. New governors, including the Chair of the Governing Body, are keen to ensure that leaders are held to account much more. Governors have made sure that they…
