Floreat Education Reflections on a Free School bid: Part 1 – Floreat Education

A few weeks ago Floreat submitted our first Free School bid, for a two-form entry primary in Brentford. Having helped design the policy framework that created Free Schools during the early years of the Coalition Government, it was quite an experience being on the other end of the process as an applicant.

This blog is the first of two that reflect on the experience. This one records some of my thoughts on the process and how it could be made more productive, and includes some suggestions for anyone else who is planning to do what we’re doing. I was fortunate to get great advice from lots of of past bidders, and I hope I can add something useful to future Free School applicants.
