Why Gove Can’t Have It All Ways on Free Schools | LKMco, Education and Youth Development

Oh 2010, how long ago you seem. Back then Edu Secretary, Michael Gove, was forever exclaiming the virtues of his ‘Free Schools’ policy. It would unleash innovation, usher in a parental ‘big society’, and end the many (arguably media-created) ‘woes’ of state schools.

Gove was so convinced free schools were the answer to a ‘crisis’ he pushed the legislation through for them in just five days, using a process usually reserved for dealing with terrorists and war.
