I’ve heard stories of people holding on all day when they start a new job, because no-one has bothered to tell them where the bathroom is. Maybe it’s a female thing but this is one of the first things I want to know when I start at a new school. I now know of five in my current school, which is a record for me.
If no-one goes through the basics with you when you start at a new school it is probably because these banal and mundane everyday details have slipped into the deep dark recesses of consciousness, and not because they are being inconsiderate or rude. It is imperative to speak up and ask about what you need to know.
