“Twitter is Fantastic”

After an intense day of inspiring but draining activities at a leadership course in March, Jill Berry (@jillberry102) took to the stage. Her opening line was as unexpected as it was refreshing: “Twitter is Fantastic!” A show of hands unveiled the fact that I was alone in the audience as a twitter user. However, my forays into twitter to that point consisted of Ricky Gervais bathpics and the philosophical musings of Rio Ferdinand. Jill introduced me to the idea of a professional twitter account to follow those involved in, and passionate about, education. It wasn’t until May that I took the tentative steps of creating two twitter accounts: a departmental account @RGS_maths and a personal, professional account @HoDTeacher. Twitter comes into its own when a narrow niche is explored, so a Maths account could be used to focus on subject-specific tweets and my personal account…
