Kids in the matrix


A few days ago something happened in my class which made me think of the character Neo in The Matrix. A man plugged into a fantasy world.

Allow me to explain…

At parents’ evening I had the task of telling some parents that their son was quite troublesome in class. He never completes homework, skimps on class learning, is regularly disruptive and openly defiant. His two topics of conversation are generally Fifa13 and Grand Theft Auto. Despite many meetings to discuss his behaviour, there has been no improvement.

The discussion with mum and dad was difficult and not what they wanted to hear at all. We talked about what an able boy he is and how he simply needs to calm down and focus on his own development.
